Reading and Audience
The series is a Young Adult (YA) / crossover fantasy. While it features classic, storybook-style portal wonder perfect for younger teens, it contains deeper themes, moral complexities, and dark fantasy elements that appeal equally to adult readers. It is recommended for ages 13 and older. The novels do get darker as the series progresses, growing up with the reader.
The book is available in paperback through Amazon and Ingram distribution channels, and as an ebook via Amazon. An audiobook edition is currently in production with expected release date mid December 2026. This is a 21-book series. New volumes will be released every 6 to 8 weeks thereafter through 2029.
Production transparency is incredibly important to us. No story prose or text in the novel was generated by AI—the entire book is 100% author-written. Generative AI tools were used during the visual design process for the cover and specific branding artwork (combined with manual compositing and editing), as well as for proofreading, historical period accuracy, and narrative continuity reviews.
I began working on the first book in late 2005 through 2006 with the entire series planned. Over the next four to five years the remaining books were written in rough draft format. Since that time, I have worked at improving, editing, and crafting the series for its current released. This allowed me the opportunity to weave in philosophical threads, moral complexities, hundreds of worlds, villains, and dozens of protagonists, leading to the finale in books 19-21.
